Smartphone Lenovo Vibe k5 a6020l36 Review– Currently owner of Motorola brand, Lenovo is already acting in the Brazilian smartphone market with the Vibe A7010. This device was officially launched in December 2015 and arrived as a great intermediate-model option for good configurations, offering premium audio and an integrated fingerprint sensor. Now, the Chinese company is offering its second device to the public of Brazil. http://lenovoreview.com/smartphone-lenovo-vibe-k5-a6020l36/
The K5 Vibe is a device that brings technical specifications similar to those of Lenovo’s first smartphone, but arrives with some important differences. The first one is the absence of the sensor for fingerprint reading. Another distinction is the design with metallic finishing, which causes the new appliance to transmit a sensation of elegance. Quality audio, decent cameras and good performance were kept on that device.
The TecMundo had the opportunity to test this smartphone for a few days and tease out all its features. Abroad, the same variant that will be distributed here is called Vibe K5 Plus. Out there, the K5 brings simpler technical specifications, like the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset 415. Check out now what we think of Lenovo Vibe K5
Lenovo’s second smartphone launched here in Brazil brings the same sober design as its brother made available before, the Vibe A7010. The K5 counts with very striking straight lines and slightly curved back edges, which ensures a steady grip during the use of the appliance.
The aluminum finish used in the construction of the K5 Vibe shows that Lenovo wants to conquer consumers seeking a more elegant look. Nothing of plastic taking care of the entire housing, although polycarbonate is also present in some parts of the appliance.
In this smartphone, Lenovo is betting on non-backlit capacitive buttons located on the base of the appliance, offering a greater use for the screen. However, these triggers have an inverted position, which can cause a certain strangeness to those accustomed to the Android standard.
The back cover is removable, revealing the battery – which can also be replaced – and the inputs to the chips and memory card. In general, we can say that the K5 passes a good impression on the visual aspect, transmitting the sensation that this is a robust and quite sturdy model.
The Full HD resolution screen (1920×1080 pixels) of the K5 is able to provide very decent images. However, color reproduction is not very faithful, which is quite perceptible in the own wallpapers offered by Lenovo. The contrast and image definition also did not please much in our analysis.
The brightness, on the other hand, is quite intense and ensures a good preview of the display even under strong light. This feature is ideal for those who usually use the smartphone in the sun, doing reading in well-lit environments. The K5 Vibe still comes prepared for virtual reality, providing a split-screen mode. However, this can only be harnessed with the appropriate equipment.
In the K5 vibe, Lenovo bets on a proprietary interface based on Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) baptized Vibe UI. The system brings some important changes, such as the absence of the application tray and a more complete notification bar. Lenovo has not confirmed, but it is very probable that this model will receive the update for the Marshmallow, which should happen with the A7010 soon.
For those who prefer the pure experience of Google’s operating system, the K5 also brings the official Google Launcher installed. In total, Lenovo’s interface occupies 4.93 GB of the available 16 GB. In our tests, the system rotated fluidly in most of the time, which was only interrupted by some occasional gagging.
Equipped with a competent processor – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 616, octa-core 1.5 GHz – the K5 Vibe managed to withstand most of the activities imposed during our tests. By rotating heavy games, such as Real Racing 3, GTA San Andreas and Mortal Kombat X, we find a slight fall in the playback of frames per second.
However, this did not happen in the case of basic games and apps, such as social networking, messengers and news applications, since the smartphone managed to rotate everything with great tranquillity. Simultaneous open applications were also very well managed by the 2GB of system memory. The K5 Vibe still counts with 16 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded into up to 32 GB with the use of Micro SD card.
The 13-megapixel camera of this Lenovo smartphone did well in our tests. The photos produced have a good color fidelity, white balance and sharpening. The K5 still counts with several capture modes, but the camera software is confusing and does not present its functions intuitively. The 5-megapixel front camera also has good quality, offering a way of beautifying and capturing by gestures.
Although it has a good capability – 2,750 mAh – The battery of the K5 did not surprise in our analysis. Using the appliance in a moderate way, the smartphone arrived at the end of a day with just less than 10% load. However, consumers can choose to load an extra battery, since the K5 allows replacement of this component.
- Moderate usage (social networking, links, messengers and games): 11 hours
- Intense usage (games, high-resolution videos and camera usage): 8 hours and 40 minutes
- Stress test: 6 hours and 25 minutes
Just as it happened with A7010, the K5 also stands out for the sound quality. The Dolby Atmos technology combined with the stereo speakers guarantees a good experience in playing music or video. The beautiful headsets accompanying the ensemble also offer a good sound quality.
Is it worth it?
The arrival of Lenovo’s second smartphone in national territory shows that the manufacturer is targeting the average consumer and aiming at the cost-benefit aspect. The K5 Vibe is a device that delivers good experience, rivaling other strong market models such as Motorola Moto G, Quantum GO and LG K10.
Taking into account these competitors, we can assume that the K5 Vibe is a good option. Considering its release price – R $999 –, it is worth betting on this smartphone and take home a handset with metallic finishing, good performance and audio above average. During the period of analysis we were able to find this device costing R $899, a very attractive price considering some competitors.
However, if Vibe A7010 is at an equally competitive price – as in promotions in which the price approaches R $1000 –, it is worth considering Lenovo’s first smartphone in national territory. This model stands out on the account of the best quality fingerprint reader and audio.
