Review Lenovo YOGA Slim 7i Pro
Complementing the YOGA Slim-series line, Lenovo Indonesia presents the YOGA Slim 7i Pro. This laptop is the first YOGA Slim variant to be equipped with a discrete graphics card. Previously, the YOGA Slim 7i and YOGA Slim 7i Carbon only relied on the Intel Iris Xe graphics card. Well, curious how the performance? Check out the reviews as follows.
Lenovo YOGA Slim 7i Pro design
In the design sector, the YOGA Slim 7i Pro still looks similar to the YOGA Slim 7i. The premium concise design with aluminum material typical of the YOGA line is maintained.
The body is only slightly thicker than the YOGA Slim 7i. Naturally, considering that this laptop is equipped with a discrete graphics card. Nevertheless, the weight is still very light. Only about 1.35 Kg. It is ideal for users with high mobility.
The thin body does not carry many connectivity ports. On the left side of the body you can find two Thunderbolt 4 ports. Meanwhile, on the right side there is a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port (supports always on USB Charging) which is accompanied by a 3.5mm audio jack port and the power button. Unfortunately, there is no memory card reader slot like the YOGA Slim 7i.
Lenovo YOGA Slim 7i Pro display
There are two main attractions of the YOGA Slim 7i Pro. The first is the discrete graphics card that we mentioned earlier and the second is the screen. The screen panel of the YOGA Slim 7i Pro has a higher resolution than the YOGA Slim 7i.
The YOGA Slim 7i Pro screen panel that we are reviewing below uses a 14-inch IPS panel. The resolution is 2.2K 2240 x 1400 pixels. The screen panel is surrounded by a very thin frame on the left and right. If you need a higher screen resolution, Lenovo also provides an option with a screen panel with a resolution of 2.8K.
With a high panel resolution, it is undeniable that the visuals on the screen look very sharp. Carrying a screen aspect ratio of 16:10 makes the field area also wider. The colors are also very good and pleasing to the eye with the standard 100% sRGB color coverage. So, it can be relied on for content creation. The screen panel supports the Dolby Vision feature and has a brightness level of up to 300 nits. Adequate enough for use in very bright lighting conditions.
Lenovo YOGA Slim 7i Pro Keyboard and Trackpad
The Lenovo YOGA Slim 7i Pro features a chicklet-style keyboard. The size and spacing of the buttons fits perfectly. It’s comfortable to type on and doesn’t make your hands sore quickly. To accompany typing in dim conditions, the keyboard is also equipped with a white backlit lamp.
Under the keyboard there is a fairly large touchpad area. The touchpad is coated with glass material and supports the Precision TouchPad. Very responsive with the touch of a finger. The left and right clicks are also very comfortable to press and not noisy.
AudioLenovo YOGA Slim 7i Pro
Entering the premium laptop category, the YOGA Slim 7i Pro brings 2 x 2W stereo speakers from the manufacturer HARMAN. The sound quality is quite good and feels powerful. Very adequate for enjoying multimedia content. To boost the sound performance, support for the Dolby Atmos feature is also available.
Features of the Lenovo YOGA Slim 7i Pro
Another feature that we can find on the YOGA Slim 7i Pro is a webcam with a shutter feature to protect privacy. The webcam is also accompanied by an IR camera that supports the Windows Hello security feature with the ability to detect the user’s face. You can rely on it for security considering that the fingerprint sensor is not available on this laptop.
Lenovo Vantage flagship features are also available. Through Lenovo Vantage users can take advantage of several features from Lenovo. Such as Conservation Mode, Rapid Charge for fast charging, and always-on USB charging. The Lenovo Vantage also provides a performance scanner feature, checks for system updates, and accesses keyboard, audio, and webcam settings.
Another interesting feature is Lenovo Q-Control support which can be accessed via the FN + Q hotkey for automatic performance settings. There are three preset options available, namely Battery Saving, Intelligent Cooling and Extreme Performance.
The Lenovo Smart Assist smart feature which relies on artificial intelligence is also supported. Lenovo Smart Assist utilizes a smart infrared camera with a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor and Glance technology from Mirametrix.
Through this feature, users can enjoy a series of smart features. Like for example automatic screen unlock or lock by detecting user presence and privacy protection. For privacy protection at Glance, the Privacy Guard and Privacy Alert features are available. Privacy Guard will automatically make the screen display blurry or blurry when its smart infrared camera detects the presence of other people peeking at the screen. Then, Privacy Alert will immediately notify the user of the screen being peeked at.
Lenovo YOGA Slim 7i Pro performance
The Lenovo YOGA Slim 7i Pro is available with Intel Core i5 and Intel Core i7 configurations of the 11th generation Intel processor family. For the model we are reviewing, it uses the Intel Core i7-1165G7. The RAM it supports is 16GB. Cannot be upgraded. A compromise from a laptop with a thin and light design. The storage space is quite large with a PCIe M.2 2280 SSD with a capacity of 1TB. In the graphics sector, Lenovo has embedded a 2GB Nvidia GeForce MX450 graphics card. The benchmark results are as follows:
For testing productivity running office applications, the specifications are clearly very adequate. Performance feels very rushed. Powered by a 2GB Nvidia GeForce MX450 graphics card, the graphics performance does feel more powerful. To shoot high-resolution photos and videos is very qualified. When trying to render a 1-minute 4K video in the Adobe Premiere YOGA Slim 7i Pro application, it can finish in about 1 minute and 30 seconds. Can be relied upon for the needs of creative content. Even though it’s not a gaming laptop, its performance is also reliable enough to play graphics-intensive games. Several competition class game titles such as CS:GO, DOTA 2 to Valorant that we tested run smoothly without any problems.
One other advantage is thermal management. Although very thin, the cooling system is classified as very good. Laptop performance can be kept stable and cool. The keyboard surface area also doesn’t feel warm quickly. The performance of the cooling fan is relatively quiet.
Lenovo YOGA Slim 7i Pro Battery
Unlike the other YOGA Slim-series, the YOGA Slim 7i Pro doesn’t include an Intel EVO laptop. But, overall we are satisfied with the battery life. The test is carried out by connecting to WiFi, activating the Windows power saver feature, FN+Q battery saving, 30% screen darkening, without turning on the Bluetooth feature, keyboard backlight, and Location. With these settings for the use of typing and browsing we can get up to about 7.5 hours of usage time. Enough to accompany productivity all day.
The presence of the YOGA Slim 7i Pro has managed to refresh the premium line of the YOGA Slim Series. Stunning high-resolution screen and more powerful graphics performance, making it the most ideal YOGA Slim variant for content creation. Entering the YOGA line, the selling price is indeed premium, starting at 18 million Rupiah. However, this is quite commensurate with the performance and features it carries. If the selling price is not an issue, we highly recommend this laptop for users who are eyeing a laptop for creative content with a thin and light premium design.
Lenovo YOGA Slim 7i Pro Suitable for:
Content creator: The high-resolution, color-accurate display panel and Nvidia GeForce MX450 graphics card support make it ideal for content creation.
Mobile workers/ professionals : The thin and light premium design is ideal for mobile workers/professionals who often work on the go.
Student/Student: If budget is not an issue, the specs are perfectly adequate for a wide variety of tasks. The battery life is also long lasting.
